My name is Davyd Halyn Betchkal. I'm a professional acoustician and outdoorsperson who loves to explore. Within our BLUE HOME I operate a studio space ideal for recording low-amplitude music and spoken word. I am dedicated to providing affordable audio services for creative people in Alaska and the wider World, remotely or in-person.
Our location in Yedatene Na, a.k.a. the Native Village of Cantwell, offers wild surroundings and natural quietude. Like much of Alaska, we enjoy an extremely quiet ambient acoustic environment for portions of the winter months (LAeq,1s [12.5 - 20000 Hz] ≤ 15 dB). We actively eliminate mechanical noise sources indoors, in part by heating with the wood stove. This allows for excellent signal-to-noise ratio in the Blue Home studio space.
We are proud to offer analog recording approaches via 2-track and 4-track magnetic tape as well as a range of digital and computational approaches to stereophonic production. We work with all kinds of artists, but the space can best accomodate soloists, duets, or trios. We have the ability to flexibly host a small number of people for multi-day sessions. If you have older media you need digitized or embedded with metadata, we can do that, too!
We are located within walking/skiing distance (~1 km) from the boundary of Denali National Park and Ahtna lands. There are excellent whitewater and camping opporunities in our region, too.
